“Direct selling is a great way to earn a little bit of extra money as a comfort cushion,” said Amy Robinson, vice president of the trade group. “Like any job, particularly in sales, it is work. It’s not like you sign up and all of a sudden checks roll in. You do have to hold parties, demonstrate the products.”
